Types of proxies

Comments: 0

Proxy - a server that acts as an intermediary between the user and the necessary Internet resources. Its main task is to change IP.

The leading types of proxies are:

  • FTP - upload data to FTP servers;
  • CGI - opening any site directly in the browser;
  • SMTP, POP3, and IMAP - work with email;
  • HTTP and HTTPS - web browsing;
  • Socks - transfer all data to the target server.

For efficient and secure surfing, the use of HTTP, HTTPS, and Socks are recommended. They are the most acceptable and safe for this type of activity.

Find out how can you verify that your IP has been changed?

Characteristics of HTTP proxies

The main task of the most common type of proxy is the correct organization of the high-quality work of browsers that use the TCP protocol.

This type of proxy guarantees:

  • caching downloaded files;
  • option to restrict the access to resources of a certain type;
  • data filtering;
  • limit on connection speed;
  • log tracking, traffic control.

Types of HTTP proxies by anonymity:

  • Transparent: used to transmit the user`s IP in HTTP headers. They are unsafe to use because they do not give absolute anonymity;
  • Anonymous: report the use of a proxy, hiding the real IP address. They do not provide complete anonymity. The reason is the availability of information about the existence of proxies;
  • Elite: do not inform about the use of proxies and do not indicate IP, guarantee absolute anonymity.

HTTPS Properties

HTTPS is similar to HTTP. The additional letter S defines secure (secured). The difference is confident support for a secure SSL connection.

Proxies are used to transmit classified information. Important: using this type - transmitted information can be intercepted. To increase the level of security of personal data, the HTTPS protocol is used. All traffic, in this case, is encrypted with an algorithm that is resistant to hacking.

Benefits of Socks

Socks is the most efficient way to transfer information, allowing you to forward transparently, invisibly to both the client and the server.

There are two main types:

  • Socks 4 - for maintaining a TCP connection;
  • Socks 5 - for authorization, remote DNS query.

Socks do not moderate HTTP headers; they transmit accurate information, excluding IP address information. As anonymous as possible.

Proxy type identification

There are two ways to determine the type of proxy:

  1. Software.
  2. Manually.

Choosing the first, the correct solution would be to use Proxy Helper, Checker type proxy. In the second option, it is important to learn how to distinguish the types of proxies visually.

Information about the type of proxy is very important. The quality and safety of further work on the network depends on it.
