Setting up a proxy in the EA app to change the region and currency

The EA App (previously known as Origin) is a digital platform by Electronic Arts, offering a range of games, add-ons, and additional content. Compatible with both Windows and Mac OS, the EA Launcher simplifies finding and launching games. However, certain content may be geo-blocked, and game prices can vary by region. Consequently, many players change their region and currency settings in the EA (Origin) Store. This process requires an EA App proxy, which we'll detail how to configure later in this article.

Step-by-step proxy setup for EA App

The EA platform does not inherently support proxy setup. To circumvent access restrictions for EA, you'll need to use Proxifier, a tool for configuring a proxy for all PC traffic or specific applications. Here's a step-by-step guide to set it up:

  1. Launch Proxifier and go to the “Profile” section on the top panel. Click it and select “Proxy Servers” from the drop-down menu.

  2. In the new window, click the “Add” button.

  3. Enter the new IP address and port in the proxy data window. Select your required protocol type from the drop-down list below.

  4. For private proxies, enable authentication by checking the “Enable” box in the authentication section. Enter your username and password for the private proxies in the fields that appear. Click “OK”.

  5. In the subsequent window, choose “No”.

  6. Return to the main menu, open the “Profile” section again, and select “Proxification Rules” to tailor the proxy settings for the EA App.

  7. In the next window, add a new rule by clicking “Add”.

  8. Name the rule for easy identification, then click “Browse”.

  9. Locate and double-click the EADesktop file, or the file you want to run through the proxy.

  10. In the “Action” section drop-down menu, select the proxy you previously set up, then click “OK”.

  11. Check the box next to the new rule and click “OK” again.

Your proxy configuration for the Electronic Arts application is now complete. Open the launcher and change the region to finalize the setup.

Changing EA App Account Regions and Currencies - Origin

Once your launcher is connected via a proxy server, you can modify the region and currency settings. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your profile menu and select “Settings”.

  2. In the new section, click on the “Manage” button.

  3. This will redirect you to a browser page. Locate the “Regional Settings” section and click on the “Edit” button.

  4. Confirm your email address. This will enable you to change the country. Choose the country corresponding to the proxy you set up earlier and click the “Save” button.

  5. To activate these changes, restart the launcher. The currency will automatically update to match the selected country.

With these adjustments, you'll gain access to content that was previously blocked and be able to purchase games in the new currency, potentially leading to savings.
